Collection: Gretchen Fuss

Gretchen Fuss, a Swarthmore, PA based painter, brings a vibrant new body of work to life in Floral Memory & Form, her latest exhibition opening Friday, October 17th at LAA Art Collective.

In this deeply personal and exploratory collection, Fuss steps beyond her comfort zone, embracing experimentation with bold abstraction while grounding each piece in the enduring motif of florals and vessels. Her intuitive use of color, media, and movement invites the viewer into an emotional landscape where memory and place quietly linger.

Travel and sensory recollection are central to this series. From the sunlit vineyards of the Douro Valley in Portugal to the timeless streets of Paris, from the shores of Long Island to the colors of Mexico City and the calm of Piney Point, Maryland each location leaves an echo in the work. These destinations don’t appear literally but are suggested through gesture, palette, and form, allowing personal narrative to merge with painterly abstraction.
