About the Artist

Originally from Westerville, Ohio, Emily attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, where she received her BFA and Certificate in Painting in 2017. In May 2019, she earned her MFA in Drawing from the New York Academy of Art.

Her work is featured in numerous collections, including the Linda Lee Alter Collection in Philadelphia, PA, as well as the private collections of actress and model Brooke Shields and actor Aidan Turner. Currently, she is a practicing artist and a drawing and painting instructor for several institutions in Philadelphia, PA.

Artist Statement

Drawing and painting are ways for me to explore my favorite subjects, the land, and people around me, both within my hometown of Westerville, OH and my home in Philadelphia, PA. It’s life that captures my eye and draws me to look deeper, beyond the obvious. I prefer to be out of my studio taking in my surroundings, watching, not really waiting on anything. Something will catch my eye, it can be just about anything or anyone. I begin to dream of how to capture what I feel, and to make it come alive. By fusing both landscape and portraiture I want to convey my thoughts and feelings at that particular moment in time. My greatest pleasure from people who view my work, is that it touches their feelings, perhaps a story from their own life.
