Artist Statement:
Kirby Fredendall draws direct inspiration from the relationship between light and the horizon. Her work is influenced by her time spent with family at Freinds Lake in the Adirondack Mountians of New York. She is fascinated with the color juxtapositions that create the vibrating spectacle of the sky. Working in layers, she captures weather and the movement of light across the canvas. Her creations do not depict any specific place but encapsulate the moods evoked by the sublime landscapes of our memories.

Education:
Fredendall earned her Bachelor of Arts from Duke University in 1988. During her time at Duke, she studied in Florence in 1986, completing a program in Renaissance Art & History. A year later, in 1987, she also completed Boston University’s British Art & Architecture Program in London. She earned her Masters in Education from Arcadia in 1992. She shows her pieces in various shows and exhibitions throughout the tri-state area.
