An artistic celebration of the restaurants, architecture, and neighborhood landmarks that make the Main Line special.
Created by John Donohue of Eat Draw Repeat, this collection features original illustrations inspired by 21 beloved Main Line dining establishments.
Each drawing captures the distinctive character and charm of the places that have become part of our community's story.
The collection is an independent artistic tribute. Restaurant names are used solely to identify the establishments depicted; inclusion does not imply affiliation.
About the Artist:
In 2017, John Donohue, a former editor and cartoonist at The New Yorker, started drawing restaurants in his hometown, New York City. A self-taught artist, he works in pen and ink from life, with no corrections, typically standing on a busy street in front of a place. Later, he adds his signature one-color detail for his signed, limited-edition prints.
He has drawn more than 1,600 restaurants in Paris, London, the Napa Valley, Philadelphia, and beyond. Sales of his artwork have aided the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Restaurant Workers’ Community Foundation’s emergency Covid-19 relief fund, City Harvest, and the Napa Valley Museum.
Abrams published three books of his work: “All the Restaurants in New York” (2019), “A Table in Paris” (2021), and “A Taste of London” (2023). In 2022, he had his first museum show at the Napa Valley Museum. He is also the editor of “Man with a Pan: Culinary Adventures of Fathers who Cook for their Families, a 2011 best-selling anthology featuring contributions by Mark Bittman, Mark Kurlansky, Stephen King, Mario Batali, Jim Harrison, and many others.
