Artist Statement:

Working diligently for over 50 years, Joe Barker’s watercolors depict a whimsical version of beloved landmarks in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas. Philadelphia as a subject emphasizes the transformative influence the city has had on his life and career. From living and painting on the streets to becoming a published and well-known artist, Barker’s art and faith propel him through all challenges that life presents.
